Granite is also an Igneous rock/stone but of the intrusive type (cool and solidifies in the earths crust) which has a medium sized crystal.
Granite comes in many colours, the local granite of the coffs coast is a very warm yellow and orange compared to the cooler bluestone.
Granite being very strong is excellent as a foundation rock/stone, also very effective in the traditional random rubble style.
